Leiomyoma of esophagus
the most common benign tumour (50%) of the oesophagus; occurs mainly (56%) in the lower part of the oesophagus.Leiomyomas are less frequently observed in the oesophagus above the aortic arch because of the predominance of striated muscle in the proximal portion of the oesophagus.Barium study shows a smooth, rounded filling defect with sharp margins and intact overlying or surrounding mucosa
